Dirty Blonde

Dirty Blonde is the work of 23 year-old Chattanooga, TN native Chad Caroland, the middle child of a Church Organist and a Church Librarian, and the only member of the family who (ironically) didn’t take music lessons growing up. Dirty Blonde’s debut album “Chasing Skies” was released in 2016, it has a distinctly modern lyrical style that is constantly trying to decide whether it wants to be realist or romantic; taking topics like rookie make-out sessions and the tragically-ambivalent heartbreak of one’s early 20s to cover coming-of-age in the modern south. Its Electronic / R&B sound that Caroland describes as, “Indie Pop with feeling” has received comparisons to artists like How to Dress Well, Toro y Moi and Blood Orange.

Written, performed and produced almost entirely by Caroland in living rooms and bedrooms turned recording studios over a two year period, “Chasing Skies” keeps a deeply personal and intimate tone despite the big sound listeners have come to expect from modern pop music.
