From Cleveland, TN in the foothills of the Smokies, MondayNightSocial is making a name for themselves with their reinterpretation of folk music. The band's bedrock is the 3-part harmonies infused with rich church tradition given a modern twist, but more is at play than just solid vocals. Every song is its own story with its own persona, making it difficult to label MondayNightSocial as just another folk band. Their melding of various styles, of old and new, compliments thoughtful lyrics and catchy melodies moving in unpredictable yet familiar patterns. The mandolin tugs at the listener with strains of folk tradition offset by percussive rock patterns of strum. In lockstep with the mandolin are electric and acoustic guitars influenced by jazz conviction and blues culture keeping the music from venturing too far into standard bluegrass tropes. Tension plays throughout many songs as the bass and percussion anchor each melody with rock roots of rhythm. This diverse array of influence is resolved in a musical perspective that allows MondayNightSocial to evolve while still evoking the emotion and soul of heartfelt melodies and poignant folk harmonies.
